OUR DEMARIA FAMILY BUSINESS HISTORY
LEADERSHIP (INDUSTRY LEADER)
Vision. That is what Tony Demaria Sr. had when he opened the doors to Demaria Electric. Provide customers with the best electrical services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Backed by hard work and a reputation for getting customers “back online,” Tony Sr. turned Demaria Electric into an industry leader. With the foundation set, Tony Demaria Jr. continued to build upon his fathers’ vision. That same vision continues to drive Katie Scarlett Reyes, President/CEO, and third generation of the Demaria Family.
Safety, quality, and satisfaction aren’t just our company mantras — they embody Tony Sr.’s customer service philosophy and company culture. For over 50 years, that vision remains clear, and that is how Tony Demaria Electric, Inc. sustains its industry leadership: by providing the best electrical engineering, commissioning, maintenance, and emergency services.
EXPERTISE (THE TDE PROMISE)
With TDE’s long history as a premier engineering and technical service provider, this is our promise to you:
- SAFETY — TDE’s exemplary safety record stems from its commitment to workplace safety through stringent safety policies and procedures.
- QUALITY — TDE takes great pride in the quality of its people and the work they do in the field.
- SATISFACTION — Your satisfaction is our satisfaction, and we achieve this by serving customers with honesty, integrity, and hard work.
SAFETY
Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) is an integral part of the TDE culture. The welfare of our employees and work environment is our leading core value. Because of our focused dedication to safety, we established a systematic method to forecast and monitor safety hazards on a project. This includes taking preemptive measures to promote a safe project environment.
Our comprehensive HS&E Management System includes mandatory employee orientation with daily toolbox safety meetings, site-specific training, safety, and first-aid training, as well as pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing. Comprehensive job site audits and behavior-based safety observations are also a key part of our HS&E system.
TDE is committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees, and all employees are empowered — and required — to execute stop work authority (responsibility) if potentially unsafe conditions or behaviors occur.
MORE
By following the 8 Steps to Establishing and Verifying an Electrically Safe Working Condition, TDE team members perform all tasks safely and effectively:
- Determine all possible sources of electrical supply to the specific equipment. Check applicable up-to-date drawings, diagrams, and identification tags.
- After properly interrupting the load current, open the disconnecting device(s) for each source.
- Wherever possible, visually verify that all blades of the disconnecting devices are fully open or that drawout-type circuit breakers are withdrawn to the fully disconnected position.
- Release stored electrical energy.
- Release or block stored mechanical energy.
- Apply lockout/tagout devices in accordance with a documented and established procedure.
- Use an adequately rated portable test instrument to test each phase conductor or circuit part to verify it is de-energized. Test each phase conductor or circuit part, both phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground. Before and after each test, determine that the test instrument is operating satisfactorily through verification of any known voltage source.
- Where the possibility of induced voltages or stored electrical energy exists, ground the phase conductors or circuit parts before touching them. Where it could be reasonably anticipated that the conductors or circuit parts being de-energized could contact other exposed energized conductors or parts, apply temporary protective grounding equipment.

LOCAL COMMUNITY & EVENTS
TDE has a long history of supporting the local community and beyond. For example, we organize numerous events to support our community and to thank customers, vendors, employees, and their families.
The Annual Open House is hosted during December to welcome TDE family & clientele at our headquarters and express our sincere thank you for all they have done throughout the year. Exciting Tesla Coil and Van De Graaf Generator demonstrations are traditional and loved by those who attend, topped off with great food, non-alcoholic drinks, fruits, and fun games.
Throughout the year, employees gather after hours or during the weekend to strengthen friendships and relationships essential to the TDE culture. These activities mean a lot to employees who work together every day, and they also provide the opportunity to reconnect those who don’t see each other often. Movie nights, dinners, arcade games, bowling alleys, barbeques in the park, and mountain biking are just some of the fun things we do together! TDE does not forget about our retired employees who are always invited to join us. Oh, and yes — many employees enjoy Fantasy Football, too!
Children-focused events such as Dinosaurs Extravaganza Days and Rocks Day are organized frequently with an educational emphasis on how dinosaurs, fossils, rocks, and gems tie into electricity. Kids love this stuff — and adults do, too!
TDE supports the nearby George De La Torre Jr. Elementary School and attends its Career Days to promote education and contribute to the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Academy, sparking early interest in kids who may choose electrical industry as their life calling. Many students write letters and notes of thank you to TDE, saying they want to become an electrician!
ADVANCING THE INDUSTRY AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING
Many TDE employees are active members of the Los Angeles and Long Beach Society of Port Engineers (SOPE) and support its various activities and initiatives. One of the society’s past presidents was a now-retired TDE employee.
TDE continues to assist Long Beach City College (LBCC) in successfully adopting — first in the United States and first of its kind — the InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) Electrical Power Testing Technician (EPTT) Curriculum. TDE’s professional engineers teach a variety of classes that are part of this curriculum and offered each semester.
TDE sponsors and regularly attends many annual conferences, including the NETA PowerTest Conference, IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop (ESW), and IEEE Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC) technical conference. TDE employees give many presentations during these events and actively serve on various NETA, IEEE, and NFPA committees.
TDE employees also contribute numerous articles published in professional electrical magazines and journals throughout the years. Access those articles here.
UNION AFFILIATIONS
Being a Union company ensures that TDE Union members are provided a safe work environment and quality training, as well as wages and benefits that far exceed equivalent positions elsewhere. This provides an additional layer of personal satisfaction and added value to those who work for TDE.
In 2023, TDE rejoined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 11. IBEW is a labor union that represents around 820,000 workers and retirees in the electrical industry in the United States, Canada, Guam, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
Since 2002, TDE has been a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) union, Local 1484. With nearly 600,000 active and retired members, IAM is one of the largest and most diverse labor unions in North America.
